Welcome to Energy Kennel
Energy Kennel is owned and operated by Rick Work and Steve Long. It is located in north central Kansas, home of some of the best pheasant and quail habitat in the country. Our hunting grounds are a mix of over 80,000 walk-in hunting acres, as well as access to over 20,000 acres of private lands. This gives us the opportunity to work and evaluate our dogs in a wide variety of terrain.
We can best be described as bird hunters with a passion for the Elhew Pointer. While our kennel may be small compared to others, be assured the quality of our dogs is very impressive. All of our breeding stock is hunted and worked throughout the year. From the Flint Hills quail to the milo and CRP pheasant fields, our dogs are proven on wild birds.
You will find our dogs heavy with the McGoo line of Elhew. Most are very tightly bred in the Strike Kiwi Cross, which we have found to produce excellent point, style, and ability to find birds. Energy Kennel produces several litters per year and, from time to time, have “started” dogs available.
